Back on the Loire for the 14th general assembly of the association. They had promised to come in numbers and they kept their promise: 90 Avantime, 166 people. Since the creation of Amicale Avantime 13 years ago, this is the first time that the association has as many members on an event.
Saturday, April 21, we parked 90 Avantime in front of the very original Château de Villandry and its gardens of love, then we visited the petrifying caves of Savonnières.
At 18:30, we start the general assembly at the Ibis Styles Tours Sud hotel. Last year's results, many outings activities, media actions, exhibitions, spare parts, etc. were discussed. Then the aperitif and dinner.
Sunday morning, after a well deserved rest, we visited the amazing Maurice Dufresne Museum in Azay-le-Rideau: the museum of a lifetime where we can see all the mechanical, industrial and automobile history of the twentieth century through an unusual collection exposed in an equally unexpected way.
Then we drove through the landscapes of Tours to the Château de Planchoury, with many more surprises: the biggest European collection of Cadillacs of all ages accumulated by Robert Keyaerts, and the family estate where we were able to enjoy delicacies homemade, under a sun always generous. Take an aperitif and coffee near our Avantime, what a ... privilege!
And for the big finale, a crazy idea of our Belgian Amicalist, Luc: write the word AVANTIME with 36 cars photographed by a drone!
In the opinion of all participants, this AG 2018 weekend will be remembered for its weather, its unusual visits, the beautiful landscapes of Touraine and the ever more friendly atmosphere within the association.
