L'Avantime prend le large
October 6 & 7, 2018

It is on a proposal of Sonia and Bruno that took place the last meeting of the year 2018, on the sea side of Rochefort and La Rochelle.

Many of us arrive in Rochefort on Friday evening and to install all the presents at the dinner, Bruno shows us his talents of player of Tetris!

Saturday, we are all at the bottom of the ferry bridge of Rochefort. We are offered a guided tour of the site, the bridge is currently partly dismantled for restoration and return to its original colors.
After the picnic, we take the road to La Rochelle.

On site, being more than 80 participants, we divide into two groups to discover the history of La Rochelle through the historic center and then visit the aquarium, impressive with its pools and its countless species.

At the end of the day, back to Rochefort for the dinner and the night.

Sunday morning awaits us the industrial and maritime history of the city.
Alternatively we discover the history of the Royal Rope and the Hermione, the frigate rebuilt a few years ago by an association with the techniques and materials of the original boat.

After a hearty lunch on the spot, the Marquis de Lafayette joins us, in person, for dessert!
He tells us with passion and humor his hectic life, not without trying to inculcate us the good manners of his time (the step, the bow and then dance the « menuet"!). A very nice way to conclude this stay!
